Hungrier Baby Milk...

How do you know when to move them to hungrier baby milk?
Theo is currently on SMA Gold, he used to take 6oz every 4 hours or so, now he is taking between 4-6oz every 3 hours sometimes less, but moaning throughout his feed, and moaning after the feed, he is all of a sudden very cranky, he used to be soooo happy, now all he does is moan, like he's hungry, put a feed in his mouth and he's quiet...
He used to sleep through the night from 9pm til about 8am, now he's waking up alot earlier, should I change his milk to SMA White or could he be cranky for other reasons? xxx

Could it be the 3month growth spurt?. Chloe was the same when she went through her spurt, it did settle down though after 4 or 5 days though.

Yeah sounds like growth spurt. If he's moaning during the feed you could try a faster flowing teat. Will he take more than 6 oz if offered?

He will if he drains the 6oz previous, sometimes when we do offer it him, he suck then spit iykwim. I'm very puzzled, it's as if he's hungry all the time, but sometimes he'll only take 4oz of a feed. x

I put my twins on Hungry baby milk because they were constantly hungry,it didn't make a difference to be honest. They still want to feed many many times during the day lol

Maybe it's a growth spurt? He is 3 months x

I've put josh on hungry baby milk- cos he's always bloody hungry!
You could try give him hungry milk before bed and see if he goes longer through the night?

Emsy maybe it would be a good idea to switch to hungry baby then if he can't hold down a larger volume of milk.
We alternate hungry baby and normal (cow and gate)
Just one other thing to check - I used to think Ruby needed feeding every 2 hours until I got her napping more. I kept thinking she crying from hunger but it was tiredness. But as you've got 4 kids I'm sure you're way better at working out what cry means what!

Ive always been told switch when you cant get any more in the bottle and they are still hungry. We were on 8oz bottles and then approaching 9oz we tried it but she wasn't keen on it so we weaned but I would try up the OZ first. Did you ask your HV?

I've moved onto the aptamil hundry baby milk today, jake is 3half months and has changed to formula this week, he had 4 7oz and 1 9half oz bottles yesterday, i prusumed he is better on hungry baby milk rather than him having more of ordinary one, on the box it says on average he should be having 5 6oz bottles a day, I now know it was the right thing to switch to formula as theirs no way i could produce what he guzzled down yesterday, it was a difficult and upsetting decision but he is so much hapier and content between feeds now!( sorry i have slightly gone off topic, but we have had an upsetting week and its the 1st time ive been able to say 'i did the right thing')
