eating too much?

I'm curious if my little guy is eating TOO much!?

He seems to be taking 4oz at most feeds, and generally that's every 2-3 hours. It just sounds like an awful lot for a baby that's only 3 1/2 weeks old..

I'd let him have what he wants honestly as long as he's not getting sick/spitting back up.

That's something we had problems with when it comes to bf'ing.. he spits up and throws up - i mean HUGE throw ups after basically every feed. I thought it could also be a lactose intolerance.. but that's why we're doing formula now!

He's had the odd little spit up - but nothing major. Definitely no huge throw ups, or projectiles! LOL.

So just leave him to it then?

I would just leave it if he's not throwing up too.. that doesn't sound too bad for a baby going on 4 weeks old

Have you decided to stick to formula all the time? No more BF?

I would leave it be. His body obviously needs it so let him have it especially since he's not throwing up

Grrr.
So - now that I'm on an anti-biotic for my sinus infection - one that can NOT be taken while bf'ing I'll add... the little buggar throws up his formula.
Last night he projectiled on Andrew! We changed him, Andrew gave him more formula, and boom - AGAIN.
So I told him to stop feeding him because obviously he's full or else he
wouldn't be throwing up like that. Especially since we hadn't had ANY issues since switching.
But he told me this morning that he did it again in his chair.
My doctor said yesterday if he isn't bothered by the vomits than it is very VERY unlikely that it's reflux. Nothing warns us it's coming - he does get fussy or look in pain or anything - it comes up - and he just sits there, still no screaming, no nothing.
I guess he's just a greedy boy who doesn't know when to stop eating?!?!?

It took LeeAnne about a week or so to understand that when she ate to much she would be sick, she finally learnt how much was enough for her and when she was satisfied to stop! It might just take him some time to get used to the formula, might just a need a week to get a feel for how much he really needs

Elyse has that problem too, she hasn't projectiled yet but sometimes spits up like half an ounce to an ounce of her formula at once!

Sometimes it's cause she eats wayyyy too fast,
Sometimes it's because she gets like an air bubble and a bunch of formula comes out with a big nasty burp - usually when she won't stop to burp and I don't make her.. so maybe my fault!

You said you thought he may be lactose intolerant right? Well then he wouldn't be able to have regular formula either, he would need soy? Ask your doctor to investigate that maybe?
