Tommee Tippee Vari Flow teats/medium flow teats - when to change over from slow flow?

My LO is 8 weeks old and has about 150-200mls per feed which can take quite a while, and I just wondered when you should change from the level one/slow flow teats onto the next level teat? I looked on the TT website and it says 3 months plus for the level 2 medium flow teats, or you can use the vari flow ones from birth, but I wondered how you know if they need to change up and have a faster flow?

Any experiences with the vari flow teats?

we changed to vari flow at about 2-3 weeks and they reduced fin's wind brilliantly... but he has a strong suck reflex. i would just try and see how they work for you.

When you see your lil is getting annoyed with his teet and/or when he falls sleep before finishing his milk which is the result of him getting tired of sucking too hard with the slow teet

Does having a faster flow teat increase wind though?

Joseph was really colicky so we tried vari-flo teats when he was about 6 weeks old, they really did help. He still had colic but definitely less screaming! I think part of the problem with the newborn teats was that he was sucking to get more out but the flow was too slow for him so he was just getting air instead x

We had Patrick on the vari flow teats at about 6-7 week and he was fine with them but the past few weeks he started to bite down on them and open the valve which made a load of milk come out which choked him and made him sick so now we have gone back to the slow flow ones and hes fine on them.Next wk we are just gonna buy him some medium flow ones. x

This is when we changed, tested both medium and vari-flo, went with vari-flo in the end they suited LO better.

From breast to bottle

I have just given my 7 month old a bottle for the first time and was unsure of which teat to use after searching the web too. Trying her with a bottle once every day now for a few days she seems most comfortable with a size 3.
