Will people think I'm insane?

OH and I are very private stress free (as far as possible anyway) people, so we've decided to let all plans for a UK based wedding fall by the wayside. I wasn't too keen on the idea of an overseas "beach" wedding, well because that wasn't us really... you know the couple on the sandles adverts (no offense to couples that are... it's just we're not! ). I have a terribly difficult parent situation (divorced, dad remarried, mum still would chop my dads head off if she ever saw him) and it would make what's supposed to be the happiest day of my life incredibly stressful and miserable!

So we've decided to get married on a cruise! Just us two, no guests - two members of the crew as witnesses!

Obviously we'll have a million squillion pictures taken on-board to show everyone, and we plan on having a "Yay we're married" party once we get back - which means I get to wear my dress again

Is everyone going to think we've completely lost our minds? More to the point will it cause untold misery from parents?

Btw, sorry if my posting comes as a shock to anyone, we're not "officially engaged" as we're only going to do that about 6 months before we get married (which won't be till we've saved enough money to pay for our mammoth caribbean cruise ). Again... because his mother got in enough of a tizz about his cousins wedding, I just couldn't deal with that for the next 2-3 years! (if I see one more lavender pashmina I will kill myself!)

I think it sounds perfect, and is exactly what me and OH would do if we had a choice that was influenced by guilt.... x

We took the low stress wedding option. Wouldn't have had it any other way.
We snuck off and told people later as we knew too many people would fuss at us.
The family got to have their wedding fuss at my poor cousin's wedding.
