Breast-fed Poos!!!!!

hi ladies!

just a quick question, Freddie has been doing about 5 poos a day so far and im breastfeeding him, i know at first they have little control over their bowels hence the expolsive yellow poos!

but yesterday he only have 1 poo! of course now im worrying a bit now i think i remember health visitor saying about 3 weeks on he may go even a week with no poo as their is very little waste with B-Milk?! is this right? he is absolutely fine on himself no apparant tummy ache etc.

anyone else experienced this?

thanks gals hope all well!!!

Jen xxxx

Yeah it's completely normal, they can go up to a week without it and be just fine. Like you said, there is very little waste with breastmilk. Unless he seems to be in pain, or straining to go I wouldn't be worried

This happened my my LO when she was tiny - didn't go for about a week and then when she went it was everywhere! So much so that I rang the h/v as I was worried she might have a tummy upset. But that was the norm for quite a few weeks. Now she tends to go pretty much once a day, maybe once every other so no don't worry!

I was changing Olivers nappy about 10 times a day, then suddenly, he didn't do one for a few days! I was so worried, but the doctor said it is completely normal to chop and change like this. As long as he isn't grumpy, with a temperature and is keeping his feed down, he should be ok.

I agree with Kat. Seth goes several times a day, but either is normal. It is very rare fore a BF baby to get constipated.

As the babies grow and their digestive systems mature they'll poop less. One of my nieces literally went once a week! My ten-week old still poops four-six/day but that down from the eight-nine he did as a newborn.
