Breastfeeding and chemo

Short version! My dad has terminal cancer (kidney, lung and bone) and treatment not really working, his chemo has been stopped for a couple weeks as blood results are so bad, in particular his neutrophil levels are 0.9. I've read online about some gd results when people have have immunity issues and had breastmilk which seems to have improved their blood picture so I've offered some to dad. He discussed it with his consultant yesterday and she said she can't recommend it but it wont harm him so he's going to try it (just has to 'get over' the fact it's my milk lol!)

I'm going yo start expressing for Thea anyway so I have a small stash if ever needs for her so dad can have some too, with DS I was able to express easily - fast string let down means my record was 5oz in under 5mins!

Just wondering if anyone else has any experience/stories/websites regarding adults having breastmilk for similar health reasons. Not looking for a cure fir dad but just want to support his immune system so he can possibly have more treatment, his cancer is terminal but every day is a bonus.

So sorry you and your family are going through this Don't know what article it was, but I did read one about stem cells/cancer treatments, and the positive effects of BM with cancer treatments.

Edit: found it!

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this candyfloss. My mum had terminal cancer - I won't go into it but it was a very traumatic experience.

I'm so glad you've offered your milk to your dad - and I'm so happy he's accepted it!

I think it's a fantastic thing you're doing for your dad - if I had of had my LO when my mum was still with us then I would of offered her my milk without hesitation.

I have everything crossed, stay strong and please do keep us posted. xxx
