Bfing and losing weight

In addition to my other post about my 3 mnth old feeding so much, I wanted to ask if anyone else is losing much weight from feeding? Before pregnancy i was only 7 st and was seeing a dietitian to gain weight. I am now back to that again and feel like the feeding is taking so much from me. I eat regular meals and snacks but cant keep up! Any advice as i want to stay healthy. I have considered combi feeding for this reason.

It is normal to feel very hungry and thirsty when you are breastfeeding.I am overweight and still felt like that,so much so I gained more weight postpartum
As long as you eat regularly and have a drink by your side whenever you sit down to breastfeed, you should be getting enough.
The lack of sleep can also be making you feel drained,so try to rest as much as you can.
You could ask gp about vitamins or iron you might be short on something.

Thank you, yes i have a history of anaemia so should check my iron. I should get rest too instead of burning off the energy! x

I think they say that BFing takes an additional 500 calories on average so you would need to compensate to maintain weight by making sure you eat and additional 500 calories or so.. Eat more if you need to gain, etc.

I'm the same. But, it doesn't bother me. I still have energy, feel great, and make loads of milk so being thin isn't affecting me or my supply. I'm small to begin. 5'5 and 101 lbs. But bf brought me to 95 lbs then I got pregnant(so obviously still fertile at that weight) and I'm now 97 lbs 5 months pp and still slowly losing. I actually tend to lose several pounds around the 9-12 month bf'ing mark and wonder if I will get down to 90. Hopefully not. Anyway I wouldnt worry if you feel good etc. Eat more protein/fats. I've been doing that but I'm still losing, just a lot more slowly now.
