Changing from mixed feeding to just breast?

Ok so I mainly breastfeed but LO has been getting formula top ups especially at night as she was just never satisfied. She is a month old today and I don't know what's happened to me but I have got this new excitement about breastfeeding! I want to wean her off having formula can this be done or will my milk supply forever be as it is?

yes its completely possible hun, at this stage your supply isn't fully established yet so its quite flexible Hopefully someone with more experience of this will be on later xx

I believe this can be done, it's supply and demand, so just let little one nurse, nurse, nurse.

Some good info here on milk supply and increasing it http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/index.html

Go you

I am not sure how much formula top-ups your LO is having, but I also done some top-ups, advised to by MW and HV as LO's weight was pretty much off the scale. I would offer around 4 oz max a day - that was around 2-5 weeks old.

I stopped it, as I felt it made things worse and didnt think it was making any difference to his weight gain.

I had no problems just stopping the formula and hope you can do it too

I combi fed my daughter for the first 8 weeks, mainly because of me having gestational diabetes and some really shocking lack of support in hospital and from my midwife.....anyway..enough about that

The best advice I can give is just feed, feed, feed. If your baby has a dummy then ditch it and let her do all of her comfort sucking on the boob, if you are happy to co-sleep then maybe consider it because I found that this really solved the night time issue when I had been offering a bottle.

Lots of skin to skin with your LO, I found nice baths together to be good.

I won't lie, my experience of going exclusively over to the breast was quite tough, but I was determined and we got through it. There were 4 very intense weeks of cluster feeding involved but that first day when we managed to get through 24 hours with just boob was really worth it. We had some set backs and she had odd bottle when it got to 3am and I thought I just couldnt do it, but by 8 weeks we were managing every day At 10 weeks she had a bottle of expressed milk when my parents looked after her and that was her last bottle of anything ever....bizarrely for a combi fed baby within 4 weeks of going exclusive she was refusing all bottles

Best of luck, it is more than possible
