Thanks girls.

I went and the doctor was as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike but the up shot was ibuprofen and paracetamol plus the massage is as much as I can do.

Hope you feel better soon hun. I was wondering the same about ibuprofen. I've got so much pain in my boobs. I've started taking some tablets to increase my milk supply and i'm now in agony.

What are you taking Becca?? I'm thinking of taking something just to increase it a bit as I feel like I could do with a little more in the evenings! x

A breastfeeding support lady suggested fenugreek tablets from the herbal shop and she also suggested i go to the doctor for domperidone tablets which are also known for increasing milk supply. Only started taking them yesterday so no results yet. Although my boobs feel really tender like they do just after birth when your milk comes in.

I'm probably too late for your query but thought I'd share my story as I had an issue about ibuprofen a few days ago. I suffer from regular bad heads/migraines which returned almost immediately after the birth. They are usually linked to bad sleep so you can imagine how frequent they are now! So I asked the health woman (not a MW, dunno what she is) who was round the day after I got home who said better to take ibuprofen than paracetomol as it doesn't pass through in the milk. So there I was happily taking it on occasion. Rang the doc's to ask about taking a double 400mg loading dose for really bad heads (a trick he's previously recommended) and he said I shouldn't be taking ibuprofen at all whilst BF. I was pretty mad about this! My sister works in a hospital to she asked one of the doctors who said all the painkillers will go through to the blood stream. My Dr had recommended diclofenac which apparently is stronger than ibuprofen but the Dr my sis asked said you can get this as a suppository which doesn't go into the blood and so not into the milk. Not sure I fancy that but handy to know. So I guess the rule would be only take painkillers if you really have to and take the least strong you can manage with.
