Jacob (before he got gaviscon) used to bring up nearly every bottle and i mean projectile watery sick. Now he only brings up the odd one if i give him his gaviscon. But to get baby gaviscon you gotta get it prescribed by the doc, and alot of doc's dont listen for ages!! Took us 4 weeks of going back nearly every day with jacob covered in sick for them to finally take notice.

XxX

Morgan started at about 4-5 weeks old, and although she wasn't overly sick (not as much as some of the poor babes on here) she would scream in abject agony and be a bit sick about an hour or two after every feed. We knew it wasn't colic as she had that at 2 weeks old, and after we changed to Dr Browns bottles it disappeared... besides, the way she cried was so totally different!

GP said it was an ACID reflux, not just milk being brought up, which is why she was in so much pain, and prescribed Infant Gaviscon. (You can buy it over the counter though, it's about £4.50 for a box of 30 doses).

It made a massive difference to her, and seemed to take the pain away almost instantly. She's still on it now, although we are trying every so often to wean her off it, but she's not ready for it to stop yet, so she's on half the recommended dose at the moment.

Do you think your LO may have it then? I would say that reflux can appear differently... some seem to bring up a whole bottle but not seem too bothered by it... others, like Morgan, don't vomit as much but are in agony with it?

Ollie was being sick all the time, from the minute he had his bottle right upto his next bottle. Sometimes it was projectile but sometimes it was just coming out his mouth and nose without any force. He wasn't bringing up the whole bottle as much as it seemed he was as he was gaining weight well still but the fact he was constantly sick and I was having to change him all the time (one night he went through all his vests and babygros he was that sick) showed something wasn't right. I took him to the docs and he held him and he was sick through his nose just by being picked up and that was 2.5 hours after his feed.

Do you think your little might have reflux? x

Oiver is exactly as Ollie. Not nice to see and can spend the whole night on a cycle of feeding, sicking, changing clothes and back to feeding again. It is obviously just not normal - you will know it if your LO has it.

Not sure... just notice that all of a sudden he is being sick during and after feeds. It is not projectile tho. I have tried winding after every ounce to see if that helps. It seems to just break the sick up into smaller amounts rather than a big blob at the end of a feed. HV told me to keep him sat upright for 20 mins after feeds, but that doesn't stop him from being sick as soon as i lay him down. I'll have to just keep an eye on it.

I think it is interesting that when babies used to sleep on their tummy, there wasn't as much reflux... now it is so common... and here once a baby has reflux docs usually recommend tummy sleeping again anyways...

I got this cool wedge for her crib, it does seem to make her more comfy in the night, I can imagine being flat on your back to be painful and hard to digest.
