Question

One-sided feeding?

Byron is doing so well at feeding but only on my right boob. We have many fights trying to get him to feed on the left. At first I thought it was because I was too engorged when the milk came in that he couldn't latch properly but we worked through that. But now even if I can get him to latch properly I can hear that he is not drinking as much as on the right and he is never properly satisfied. I'm going to start expressing from the left and feed him exclusively on the right for now but does anyone have any suggestions how to help him feed on the other side? I've got a feeding pillow and have tried him facing both ways supported on it but it doesn't help.

Any advice or stories of similar experiences would be most welcome! Thanks in advance!

I had rpoblems with this to start with. It turned out that my positioning wasn't wuite right on tht side. It's because we have adominant side, so thats were the difference lies - if you know what I mean?
A BF advisor, told me to lay Oliver on my front. on bed, with his head between my boobs. They sought of roll around and kick and finally make their way to your boob. It's quite amazing really! The first time we tried, it was a mess! He ended up with booby milk in his hair, on his face, on his hands and it was all over me! Not very succesfull!! But, strangly enough, I tried it again this morning, while lounging on the sofa. He went straight to my boob and it took seconds.
Maybe give it a go? PM me if you want me to explain it properly, or in more detail.

What's la leche?

I tried the crawling to boob thing but I think my boobs are too mountainous! Byron just got stuck in between and tried to suckle on the side of one! lol

We made some progress yesterday. I had him facing more upwards and that seems to have done the trick. He still prefers the right but I can hear him gulping properly now on the left. Though he's still a pain and sometimes gets into at tizz and will not latch on either side any which way.

lol Dannyboygirl! Babies are bonkers! He seems much better on the other boob, and I've been giving it to him first routinely to keep it stimulated. Only today my right boob was all engorged from not feeding enough on that side! So much to balance! lol There are still times when he gets worked up and won't latch anywhere.
