am i done??

well as most of you know ive been having probs breastfeeding right from the start!! She either literally refuses to latch on or she just doesnt get enough!!

last time she fed from me was thursday (so 2 days ago) but i havent been able to pump anything since wednesday!!

Is this me done now?? Im really not leaking like I used to either!

It really upsets me cos I was sooooo keen to be a breastfeeding mum and the more I think about the more it upsets me that Im not one!! Not really!!

Ive been so persistant in trying and just when Ive thought Im giving up before, she will surprise me and latch on!! I love the feeling of bf-ing ... oh and the added bonus of helping me get this darn weight off!!

I know alot of you will say be persistant... but I cannot sit back and watch the state she gets in anymore!! She kicks all her legs out... crying so hard she has to take a breath... and real tears!! Not to mention the real headache everyone gets around her!! She has been like that right from birth!! Had health nurses and midwives helping me ALOT in hospital... often an hour at a time!! She just has never been keen!!

Also my right boob is hurting since last night.... feels like a blocked duct right by my nipple!! Normally to relieve this I pump!! But that breast is just to sore to even try to pump!!

Help!!!

Have you tried putting her on your breast just as she wakes up, before she realises she's hungry?

Good luck hun! Good idea about the pumping... Even if you only can get small amounts right now you can mix it with the formula so she is at least getting some breastmilk. I hope it works out for you.

Hun you have tried so hard, try not to get upset about it. Many women would have given up by now and you've stuck at it and given Courtney the best start. It's great that you have managed to express some off today and she is still getting your milk. It doesn't matter that it's from a bottle (except it means more work for you).

Look after yourself and drink plenty (to help your supply) is the only advise i really have.
I got mastitis in one of my breasts and it started off with just sorness of one boob. Keep an eye out for the skin around to look red and inflamed and if you get flu like symptoms. A block duct can cause it and you just get antibiotics from the doc (safe in breastmilk).

Your a fantastic mummy and your doing a great job, Courtney is beautiful xxx

Bless you! Instead of putting her on you when she wakes up you could try putting her on when she's not hungry and not stressed about trying to latch on to feed. If you put her on an hour after a bottle feed she might just take a bit, but you know you don't need to worry if she won't latch on - even if it's just comfort sucking and you don't have much, any sucking she does do will stimulate milk production. Have an hour in the evening where you just chill out in front of the tv and put her on or something! You've done so well to still be trying now after all of the problems you've had though x

Oh, and for the pain...get in a nice warm shower or bath and massage down towards the nipple from where the blocked duct is x
