dont know what to do

as most of you know for the past week and a half ive been struggling to get ffoin to sleep for more than 2hrs at a time. so lastnight i gave her formula has her bedtime bottle and she slept for 7hours.. when she woke for a feed i breastfed her and she was awake every hour and a half after that.

i just dont know wether to carry on breastfeeding or not..

it seems were all in this boat... yesterday my LO had 2 lots of formula and she slept for like 5 hours... and I changed her to wake her!!

The breast through the night.... she just doesnt sleep.... she'll feed.. then wind, then change... have a cuddle!! Then she will want more food!! Its constant!!

its not encouraging to know that it hasnt got much easier with your lo!!

Do whats best for you , FFion has had the best start and got all the goodness of your milk
It must be hard with limited sleep and also a toddler , sleep is very important expecailly with two kids!
Do what you feel is right

You have to remember that your sanity is just as important as anything, especially when you have 2 kids to look after, and to somehow fit in some sleep for yourself! You've done amazingly to last this long just breastfeeding, but if you think giving her formula would make things better for you, Ffion and Rhys then don't feel guilty about it - you don't even need to completely give up breastfeeding if you don't want to...people successfully do both x

i just wish my milk would make her sleep! i thought it was a growth spurt but its been going on for so long. ive been like a zombie for the past 2 weeks! ive just given her a bottle of expressed milk now and put her down for a nap so ill see how long she sleeps with that.

i think ill end up switching over though

Do what you feel is right for you and your baby but if you do want to continue it will get easier - your baby is probably having a growth spurt at the moment - i know it seems like it has gone on for ages but this is the time your baby is growing the fastest and needs to increase your milk supply. Try feeding more often during the day so that you dont have to feed so much at night. If you do stop feeding in the night your supply will diminish and you will find it harder and harder to feed.

Not entirely true. I breastfed Caitlyn for ages with a bottle before bed and we were just fine, as was my supply?

Do what you want Tezzy. She will love formula, don't worry!

good luck Tezzy

My baby was doing the same thing as Ffion for the last month... She is nearly 3 months now (out of the fourth trimester) and she has successfully slept from 9:00pm to 3:00pm for a week.

That's 6 lovely hours of sleep for 5 days in a row!
