charlie has been breastfed since his was born he has no trouble with it and latches on perfect the only problem i have thats really getting me down is that my right boob really hurts the nipples really cracked no matter how much cream i put on it the hole breast hurts when hes not feeding from it, its got to the point which its so painfull i try to avoid feeding him from it all together, altho once he gets on it doesnt hurt as much but the thought of him playing around with it before he gets on scares me! iv started to try and express from it to keep it empty, this morning it looks quite red and im having a problem getting anything out of it even with the breast pump!

can any one help!?

try squezzing a little milk out and rubbing it on the nippple then allow it to air dry i have done this since day one and didnt get sore nipples xx

If it's red you could have mastitis - does it feel hot? If your nipple's been cracked for a while and you're getting pain after a feed too it could also be thrush - I'd go to your doctor as if it is either of those you will need treatment (but at least then you'll know that the pain will improve quickly). My right nipple was cracked for weeks and so painful but once he was latched on it was ok, and it did heal with the help of lots of lansinoh x

It does seem ok once hes on i use lansinoh it does help i cant imagen how sore i'd be with out it! i seen the midwife yesterday and she didnt seem to be too concerned! i think the doctors is probabaly my best bet thanks

id get it checked out but i just wanted to recommend lanolin cream. i was using another cream and it didnt work for me then a friend gave me lanolin and my cracked bleeding nipples cleared up in 2 days!
good luck hun, i sympathize with the pain its awful but it will pass.

well i went to the doctors yesterday she gave me penicillin thinks it could be the begining of mesitits im trying to feed him from it as much as i can and it seems to be getting a little bit better, im not going to let it make me give up!

I had the same problem. My right nipple was terrible, all cracked and sore, so much so that I tried avoiding feeding Grace from it because when I did it was so painful I used to cry, which was a good idea in theory, but then my boob hurt because it wasn't being used and was engorged. I'm not feeding anymore though as I was in a lot of pain and she is so greedy she was pretty much latched to me 24/7. I'm glad you're going to carry on and not let it stop you
