As some of you know oxsarahxo sadly lost her baby girl Jessica Charlotte Reay hours after giving birth. We are arranging a star to be named after Jessica and a lantern for her resting place from all of us. We also thought it would be nice to make a contribution to Sarah & Matt so they can use it towards flower arrangements, head stone or resting place arrangements. If you would like to contibute please PM me for details. I'm Currently Feeling: | Nursing ladies- advice please! Hi Ladies
Sorry to butt into your forum, but I need some advice about buying nursing bras. When did you buy yours, and how did you know what size to get? I understand that your boobs get bigger when your milk comes in, so did you just guess and get a cup size bigger, or didn't you get nursing bras till your milk came in?
Also, if you're expressing, do you express off a 'fresh' breast and feed off the other, or do you feed from both breasts and express what's left from them?
I'm just trying to get my head round it as these and other silly questions are keeping me up all night!
Thanks! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I bought 2 nursing bras that fit me at the size I was a few weeks before my son's birth. These were intended to just get me through the first week. My boobs did get bigger and I went out and got more after my milk came in. Once my son started to wean himself, I was able to again use the 2 original one's I bought as my boobs started to shrink. There really is no way to predict what will happen and by how much when your milk comes in. So I personally wouldn't spend a ton of money on them until it does come in and you know where you are. As for nursing, you start them on one side and let them feed until that side is bone dry. If they are still hungry, switch to the other side. If they stop before that one is dry, you have a choice. You can just leave it and then start them on that side next time or you can pump it dry. As I was going back to work and trying to build up a supply in the freezer, I always choose to pump dry after he ate. But it is important you let them nurse dry at least one side as the content of your milk changes as they nurse. There is something called "hindmilk" which is the last of what they get and it is full of great fat and nutrients they need- so if you stop them before they have gotten that hindmilk, it's not doing them as much good. Good luck! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Ditto what Ragirl said,
And just to add, that when you take the time to make sure they have that hindmilk baby sleeps better and longer. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I bought my bra 2 weeks after my LO was born. I just didn't get around to it before, and after my c-section I didn't really feel like getting out for awhile. I went into a specialty shop in my area and the woman there fitted me. I love the bra I have as the cups are a bit stretchy so they adjust to my breast size. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Do not want to start the breast versus bottle debate, BUT glad you are thinking of breastfeeding. I have enjoyed breastfeeding my 4 and encourage anyone who will listen. !!! Lots of ladies on here with advice, nothing is too small or silly to ask. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would wait till your milk comes in to get a bra because I went from a 34 d to a 34 F. I went to the hospital with a comfort nursing bra so it had room for my expanding bust. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would also wait til LO is born. I went from a 36C to a DD when my milk came in. What I might recommend tho would be some nursing tank tops to buy before LO is here. I wear mine at night still and they are super comfy and convenient. They should stretch around your bust as it expands. =) |
