Why does he do this?

When I'm feeding, Pierre keeps comming off the breast looking frustrated and then going straight back on.

I don't understand why he's doing it. At first I thought it was because of his colic as he'd do it each time he had to pass wind. I don't think it's that anymore and he can breath ok. He's latched on just fine.

When he does this he pulls his head back hard with my nipple still in his mouth. Then he lets go and almost immediatly routes around for it again.

Connor does the same and he is a pretty gassy baby. It's almost like it's a game sometimes and other times he grunts and goes back on. I'm going to try gripe water and see if that will help him so that hes not uncomfortable from passing wind when he eats.

It could be a bit of wind making him uncomfortable, or it could be because the flow is slower than he'd like it to be, so he'll get a bit frustrated and come off then realise he's still hungry. Sam used to be the same but he seems to have stopped doing it now - although he's now getting to the stage where he hears a noise in the room and tries to see what's going on while still attached to me

Valerie does the EXACT same thing....and yes, she has a lot of trapped gas sometimes. I also think though that it sometimes has something to do with the flow of the milk. She is so aggressive when eating that I think the flow slows down and she becomes frustrated. I call her a "hoover vaccum" (haha) because she sucks so aggressively. But I think with Val it is a combination of both and for your little boy it could be either one, also. I hate it when she does it, because I think it looks like she's going to rip my nipple completely off when she rears back. Haha!

Izzie does this too. I think it's because my milk comes out too fast and she has to stop and catch up with herself.

All you ever wanted to know about baby pulling off the breast... and reasons for it.

Depending on when it happens, and how old baby is, you can determine what's the problem.

When Sharlotte does it, it's a burping issue. She's been crying and took in more air than what she normally does, so I have to pay attention to burping her more frequently during those fussy times.

Also some mamas are already heading into that first growth spurt at 7-10 days. This could be it too...
