Breast pump pulled the skin off my nipple!!

I mostly breastfeed Erica, and will be at home with her for a while, so I bought the Playtex double electric breast pump, instead of spending a little extra on a Medela. Bad idea. I've had trouble with it after using it a couple of times. The past few times I've tried to pump, I've gotten maybe an ounce in 1/2 hour, and thats when I'm completely FULL. There was still plenty of milk, it just wasn't getting it out. So last night, I figured I would try it one more time before trying to return it to Playtex, and while pumping (still only got less than an ounce) my nipple started really hurting. I moved the pump to look, and saw that my skin was peeled off of my nipple! I put some lasinoh cream on it but it hurt all night. This morning when I went to feed Erica I looked at it, and I have two big scabs on my nipple! So I cant breastfeed from that side, now its engorged and leaking and sore.

I called Playtex today because I was so mad, and first the lady said I couldn't return it since its a personal hygiene product. I got bitchy and told her I'm not keeping a product that pulled the skin off of my nipple, and made it impossible to breastfeed my daughter on that side. So eventually she said that if I go to the doctor and my doctor writes a letter saying what happened, then I can return it. I dont see the point in that, considering my doctor wasn't here to see me pumping, but I have an appointment for tomorrow morning. It pisses me off, cause basically she is trying to call me a liar until my doctor can support my story. I also read reviews online about the product after purchasing it, and they are pretty much all bad. I'm thinking about also sending a letter of complaint to the BBB since the product is so terrible, and their service is equally as bad. IMO they should have to also refund me the cost of my copay, and shipping fees.

UGGHHH!! Sorry about the rant, just so mad! No one ever waste your money on a Playtex pump. And its weird cause their drop in bottles are great.

gosh, that sounds awful!!!

I have to say, that milkwise my result with the medela was the same as yours with the playtex, but I didn't get hurt by it, though!!!
