so far, I gave Juleika a little bit of solids at noon (about 3-4 teaspoons), just to get her used to the idea there is something else than milk and that she can experience different tastes, but milk is still her main nutrition!
as she is turning six month old soon, I have to ask some questions, as I am still a bit confused about the whole weaning thing!
so, exclusively bf for the first six month is fine, but what beyond? I mean, how much solids should she get after six month, 'cos all those weaning books just refer to a straight pattern!
as well, I am not entirely sure, how you can mangage introducing solids, whilst giving the breast at first!
if I give LO the breast first, she drinks as much that she is mostly not hungry anymore afterwards, so that she doesn't eat much of the solids!
and at which age can a solid meal replace a milk feed?
if you bottle feed going after the books seems to be more easy, as you can feed milk by ounces, but on the breast I do not see how much she drinks!
One thing you can try doing is giving her the breast, but take her off sooner than normal. This way she is somewhat satisfied but still has room for some solids. It's also easier to give solids when a baby isn't so cranky due to being hungry.
the problem is, that I never pay attention how many minutes I am breastfeeding! as well, I have a very fast let down and sometimes, she is full already after only ten or even only five minutes!
it is very difficult to time it!
can I also give her firstly the solids and top up the feed with milk afterwards?
