fat/calories in breastmilk theory...

so I have come up with a theory and wondered what you all thoguht, feel free to tell me I am talkign rubbish

SO Sophia has been inconsistent with her sleeping for a couple of weeks now. This coincides with me giving up chocolate! So I gave up chocolate and a couple of days later she stopped sleeping through and started waking for feeds at night. Then last weekend, although I didn't eat chocolate I did eat loads of cake and biscuits, and then from Sunday she slept through for 3 nights, I then went back to being good with my eating and she started waking again!

So my theory is this...............if you have a fattier diet (I am obviously not encouraging anyone to just eat rubbish!) then your breast milk will have a higher fat content which will keep baby fuller/ more satisfied for longer.

What do you reckon?

After a sleepless night last night I am getting some biccies in for tonight to see!

Hmmm I'll definatly try this out properly!

I've wondered about this. I gave up chocolate for Lent & he upped his feeds, especially at night but wasn't behaving like a growth spurt. I decided it had to be the choc so started eating it again & he's sleeping through again. Could be coincidence though but I figure I won't be able to eat junk when I stop bf so make the most of it, hehe.

i eat chocolate more than i care to admit and it has no effect on her sleeping..but each baby is different, so maybe it is true with yours! hehe

ooh interesting. I have chocolate and cake every day and LO has slept through since 8 weeks. I don't want to give it up to test the theory though

Another theory: I felt tired so started taking my iron tablets again for 4 days and LO suddenly woke in the night for 4 nights. I stopped the tablets and she's slept through again ever since

i must admit i do like to have at least something chocolatey once a day - always been the case! and the extra hunger i feel from breastfeeding is usually satisfied by cake
louie is a good sleeper - he did 8 hours straight the other night and 2x 6 hours last night which i was very impressed with

Hate to disagree but I had a really healthy and varied diet and when I was told my baby wasn't gaining enough weight I started eating LOADS of cakes and fatty foods. I realise the stress may have made things worse but it didn't help with her weight gain or her sleeping.
