Question about pumping at night

Do you need to pump when your baby starts to sleep through the night? One of my twins has slept for 5 hours straight last night and I am worried that if I don't pump, my milk supply will be lower. My boobs feel really full in the morning.

Not unless you want to build up a bit of a freezer stash. I was worried about this too but your body will adjust pretty quickly and it hasn't affected my supply during the day.

*nods* - only if you want to keep a higher supply for some reason (ie build up stocks)

My general rule is that if baby DOES wake for a feed, you need to express, but if they don't, you don't. xx

I only pump at night because I have to keep my supply up, if I stopped I wouldnt have enough for what I need to produce. Though I now only pump at 12/1am and then again about 5:30 am as "night" as I can get enough from those two sessions without leaking everywhere or my supply dropping off.

I do need to keep my supply up. I feel I barely produce enough for my twins as it is. I supplement a couple oz a day as it is. So I will make sure to keep pumping at night.

Thanks for this post, I was wondering the same thing. Love it that my lo is sleeping more at night, but boy do my boobs hurt when we do get up. Happy to know they will self adjust without my supply diminishing. Best of luck with your twins, I am so impressed that you are bf'ing them both!
