an 8 day old baby doesnt need 80ml per feed. At 8 days old Freddie was taking 1-1.5oz per feed (30-40ml max) that was all his stomach could contain!
25ml from each side is actually very good, its a lot to manage to express, honestly!
The change in milk colour is the change from colostrum to normal milk, it sounds like your milk coming in has happened fairly late but her refusal to latch wont be down to this, especially as shes taking it from a bottle.
What bottles are you using? Have you tried using breast sheilds to encourage her back onto the breast now you have started using bottles? Have you had another BF consultant come out to check how you are trying to latch her, show you different positions etc?

Thanks squish,

Had the latch checked and was fine she just not interested, noticed after a breast feed that my nipples were being misshaped in line with this concave shape in the roof of her mouth which i was not sure was normal but forgot to mention to mw...

Using the medela bottle that came with the pump and advent bottles with number 1 teeth which she prefers.

Since yesterday she had 390ml in a 24 hour period roughly and today she has had 315ml since midnight already just expressing more now for her as shes just about to wake up so i can try latching her with not so full breasts.

reached a new milestone 50ml from each breast tonight so thats the next 2 feeds sorted.

Baby has had nearly 425ml in the last 24 hours with (200ml being formula and 225ml being breast milk) rechecked the calculations and she has about 12 feeds and they should be about 70ml each if they were all breast milk so looking at today 1/2 feeds being formula and 1/2 breast milk she should be on 420ml of breast milk and 270ml of formula in a 24 hour period. So she has not had enough but not wanting more?

If you are giving her as much as she wants to have then she is having plenty, you cant force her to have anymore milk than she wants to have.
NB Breastflow bottles are MUCH better if you want to continue to try and latch her to breastfeed. No other bottle comes close to getting them to work in the same way with the same latch. We are using them on a baby who is now coming up 5 weeks who was latched onto the breast for the first time yesterday....he latched straight away and sucked properly and wasnt frustrated with it at all even though his mum has very, very little milk through having been ill and not feeding or pumping for over a month. She is in the early stages of relactation so keeping his latch good even on his bottles is really really important. The slower and harder it is for baby to get milk from the bottle the better if you want to continue BFing, some babies do become lazy at the breast after being given bottles that a) dont act like the breast or feel like it at all and b) give them milk a hell of a lot faster than the breast....it can take from a few seconds to a few minutes for the breast to let down the milk, a bottle is instantaneous plus a bottle feels entirely different to the breast and once they become used to one they can become lazy or unsure about the other.

thanks squish, tried her on breast again she lapped a little with some milk on the nipple but then turned head away and screamed. Once she calmed down i tried latching again and she was having none of it. Last night she had the 2 50ml bottles at about 3 hourly intervils without me having to wake her which was great

hey hun, give nipple sheilds a go..if you have established bf and she has suddenly started having trouble its most likely your milk has come in and she is either unable to latch from the swelling or getting too much in the first gulp and unlatching..nipple sheilds allow easy latch on as the nipple area is much bigger and they also moderate that initial let down so i wont choke her..i used nipple shields and they were a godsend for both me and bubs!!

oooh and also having the nipple sheild may make her think she is having the bottle as it is the same plastic feel and it also makes comp feeding and weaning easier

quick update yesterday she drank 410ml with one feed alone being 100ml !! only managed to express again about half but at least she is getting some breast milk

Just got her next 3 bottles ready (3 x 60ml breast milk) i find if i save some breast milk for the night time feed she sleeps better and so do I so going to give this a go for the next couple of nights and see if it works.
