Dang Green Poo!!!

Another poo thread!

So what is up with this??? LO was in a growth spurt for a few weeks and is now coming out of it, but he has had green poo for 2 weeks or so. And not light yellowy green, but varies from bright to dark green - every poo! He poos 2-3x a day. I don't think it is a foremilk/hindmilk thing - but maybe?

Any ideas?

xx

I always thought you are meant to seek medical advice if it last more than a couple of days? Have you spoke to your doctor? Sorry not trying to scare you but that's what I've always read/been told x

Alice had this for the past 2 weeks too and she's just finishing her 6 month spurt. We're back to yellow again now. She had a cold around the same time so it was sometimes mucousy too. I don't think it's too worrying if they're still putting on weight and seem well in themselves.

I don't think it is a hindmilk/foremilk thing because Bun only feeds 1 breast per feed and empties it completely. But maybe I don't produce enough hindmilk naturally?

Hmm - it actually didn't even occur to me to call the doc since he is acting normally and gaining weight like crazy! Strangers think he is 5-6 months old! I thought maybe it is because he is growing so fast!

I have his 2nd set of jabs coming up next Tuesday so I will ask the doc then as well. I hope it's nothing bad that I have been ignoring!

xx

We always get a green poo or two after a growth spurt... before I remember to go back to feeding twice from one side.

Foremilk/hindmilk imbalance tends to produce poos that are green and frothy. My LO has had green poos in varying shades for a couple of weeks now, but HV and lactation consultant have said not to worry as long as he seems himself otherwise and is gaining weight xx

it sounds like he is gaining and growing well so don't feel bad for not doing anything. it wont hurt to ask your health visitor though so they can monitor. sam has had phases of green poo for no reason i've ever been able to understand and the health visitor hasn't been too worried as he was gaining fine.

Harry had this for 16days after the 3mths growth spurt. He also only ever feeds from one boob, so I'm not convinced it was a foremilk/hindmilk issue... But if you're unsure, you might want to try 'block feeding' which is supposed to help. (sorry no advice, other than that, lol) I've also heard that if LO has a cold or has been unwell, this can sometimes make the poo green, as well as tummy bugs or improper sterilising, but again, unsure tbh.
If LO seems well & is gaining weight steadlity etc, then he is probably fine, but if in doubt, there's always Drs
