Mother's Day feeding frenzy

My LO is 6 weeks tomorrow and I really do think we've hit a growth spurt cos he's been feeding all day from about 9am this morn and is still going. My nipples have taken such a hammering

My HV said it's ok to top up with a bit of formula if neccessary and so when I felt really empty earlier on my hubby gave him 4.5 ounces of that hungry baby aptimal stuff. He's since been back on the breast for about ten mins and is now having a little sleep. I'm starting to regret the formula now tho cos even though I felt empty and my nipples were on fire I'm wondering if he's upping my supply

Is it likely this is the 6 week growth spurt? He's been a difficult feeder in the past but this feels very intense. He's been awake since 7am and hasn't slept at all

snap, i have a hungry baby too think we are in a growth spurt which started last wednesday my nipples killed on thursday!!! dont top up if you can just let him suck

Have you managed to express anything at all geekone? My MIL is coming through tomorrow and I was really hoping to be able pump a couple of feeds off so she can feed him whilst she's here, but i don't want to pump away my supply if he's gonna want it. He's awake again now and STILL feeding

Topping up will be a hard rut to get out of if you start depending on it. Feeding as often as possible is the only way to get through it so your milk supply can get to where your LO wants it to be. I'm going through a growth spurt with Emma right now as well and she wants to eat a lot more often than normal but it usually only lasts a week or two and than we are back to normal.

I know it might seem like you have no milk or not enough but you'll make what LO needs. It may just take a bit of struggling for a bit. Hope your nips feel better soon. I promise that goes away as well. In the beginning I felt like the pain would never end but one week it just stopped out of nowhere.
