I feel your pain! Harvey is 7 months now and I could have written your post. We've tried using ebm and formula for his bedtime feed and neither has made a difference to the length of time he's slept for. I haven't tried dreamfeeding him as I'm too scared to disturb him if he's sound asleep in case he wakes and decides he wants to play for a couple of hours (which he has a habit of doing at 2am )

I'm off to have a look at that thread now...

Brennan was this way till about 18 months. Talk about sleep deprivation. I tried everything, every method, every idea and nothing ever worked except time. I think some babies just don't sleep well and nothing you do can change that. I used to put Brennan to bed. Then go in our guest room and sleep till about 12, and my DH would come get me. If Brenn woke up before 12 then my DH would deal with him. It got me some uninterrupted sleep.

Well, tried it out last night and it was a complete nightmare...

Baby wombat right from the start was a very very calm baby. I don't EVER remeber screaming at the top of his lungs... Even when he is hungry he mostly fusses...

But yesterday at my try to
1) To take dummy away
2) Put him in his own cot

He just cried and cried and cried!

I couldn't take it... In the end I put him back in my bed where he DID fall asleep without the dummy...

But woke up one hour later and the ONLY think what could settle him was a boob...

Then he slept from 9pm till 11pm. Then had another boobfeed. I did try to let him fuss for a bit but I just can't stand him crying hard. And had to give him a boob.

On the whole he woke up for boob 3 more times (from 11pm till 7 am) and a couple of times for dummy...

I just don't know if I will be able to do this...

Maybe just try to work on bedtime to start with and just deal with night wakings as you usually do? It is really really hard to start with but he's crying because he doesn't know how to get himself to sleep. It is great progress that he fell asleep without the dummy even if it was in your bed. Once he has learned to settle himself at bedtime it will get easier to deal with night wakings and they will probably reduce anyway.

You're not alone! My 3 month old wakes up 4 + times per night - usually at 12 am, 2 am, 4 am, and 6 am - then she's up for the morning by 7:30 am. I'm exhaused too! I haven't had a night of unbroken sleep since the week before she was born.

I recently started her on a bit of formula at nights to see if she'll sleep better (I'll be combination feeding from next month), but so far she's only taking a bit of it. I can't wait till she sleeps for longer stretches!

Up until a couple nights ago my 8 week old twins were waking up every 1.5-2 hrs in the night. I am trying to get my babies on a 2.5-3 hr schedule during the day. Along with co-sleeping, I have been getting them to 3 hrs the past couple nights. What a difference that has made. I hope this lasts. Vineyard suggested Babywise book to me. It does make a lot of sense the whole regard with eat/wake/sleep routine. Getting my babies to stay awake after the feeding is the hard part.

Well, this night was a bit better...

I don't think Ill ever will be able to take his dummy away... Or a boob...

He screams murder!

But yesterday I didn't let him sleep past 4pm, and when he went to bed at 7.30pm (after bath, boob) he slept till 12.30! The woke up for a feed and then slept till 4am (feed) and then till 7 am when he woke up for a day.

But i bet it is just a one off and he will be back to non sleep tonight.
