Wind pain and Dummies and bfing..

I've put this into Baby Club too as I want opinions regardless of feeding choice but thought I'd post in here too for more specific bfing answers..

I've searched and read most of the dummy threads so far but wanted a bit more advice...

Shelby (4 weeks tomo) suffers from a lot of wind mostly due to my hyperlactation (she's exclusively breastfed)

I've tried Infacol - which does seem to help a bit and I've got a bottle of Gripe water which I can try now she's a month old.
I've held off giving her a dummy as I don't want any nipple confusion. I did try it once when she was a week old as she was constantly crying for a few hours so gave in (stressy, tired baby blues Mum lol) but she refused it.
I've just tried again today as she's been grumbling all morning from wind pains since her early nap and she took it and sucked at it for a good half an hour quite happily before deciding she was hungry. Now she's fed and she's happily sleeping away.

I'm not a dummy person and I didn't really want to use one but if it makes my baby happy I will. I hopefully would like to only use it when she's grumbling from wind pain and not as a soother for sleeping/nap times. She gets herself off to sleep quite happily once she's not in any pain/hungry/wet bum etc. She's really quite an angel, I'm so lucky
I'd like her weaned off it by 6 months before I start with real food too.

So a few questions...

Did you find any issues with using a dummy and breastfeeding?
Can you LO tell the difference between dummy and nipple?

Have you used a dummy and was it for wind pain only?
How did you get along with it?
Did you baby get attached and want it for sleeping/naps too?
When/have you weaned your LO off their dummy?
Was weaning them off it successful/how long did it take?

Anything else you think could be useful to know about for a first time Mum.

Thanks Girls!

Hiya
my son has a dummy because of wind/colic and i find it does help, he also uses it at times when going to sleep because when he he is tired he gets grumpy and this helps him I have tried infarcol, gripe water, denternox and colief. colief is good but you have to express a few tablespoons to then give it to the baby. Im not normally a dummy person but if it helps then why not use one.
Lo has no probs with bf and having a dummy, he hasn't got nipple confusion, we also express and he will use a bottle.

my first son didnt take to a dummy and just cuddled a blanket so didnt have to worry about getting him to give up the dummy, hopefully my second son wont want it for too long.
