6 Weeks! some more questions...

Now we've reached the 6 week mark things are definitly easier. I am even enjoying it!

Can someone just indulge me a mo and answer some niggly questions please?

I am feeding on demand, but she seems to go anywhere between 2 to 5 hours between feeds. Is 5 hours between okay at 6 weeks? When she was first born the midwives had me waking her every 4 hours at least to stop her becoming dehydrated. I am guessing though that as they get bigger they can go longer between feeds? (Only 3 hours max between feeds at night though- )

Also, She has cut the time down to about 10-15 mins max on each boob at a time. Is she getting enough of the hind milk?

Last one- how do you wean off lansinoih?? Do you need to use it forever or do your nips toughen up???

I sound like a right worrier don't I? Some reassurance would be nice though!

I can only answer your second question. Liam nevr goes more than 3-4h between feeds and I've never used Lansinoh.

Babies become more effective with time so they only need 10-15 minutes to get all what they need. Liam sometimes feeds for more time but I know it's only comfort sucking then!

5 hours is probably ok, but I always feed between 2-4 hours during the day to help him put on weight, also it might help you with reducing the feeding at night possibly.

babies do get more efficient, so that could be why the feed is shorter, you'll be able to tell when you get her weighed.

lastly, i am still using lansinoh, i put it on every day after my shower, otherwise the friction is too much.

congrats on getting to 6 weeks x

Hi - sorry don't really have answers to your questions, I'm also curious to hear what the other more experienced ladies respond with. Sebastian often sleeps through the night and doesn't feed for up to 7 or 8 hours at stretch and often goes without asking for a feed for 5 hours or so during the day. Sometimes I can't imagine that he's getting enough milk but somehow seems to be thriving. I'm also finding that he seems happy to feed for shorter periods of about 15 minutes per meal.

wow 5 hours between a feed! sometimes i can do 3 feeds in that space of time i guess im the opposite worrying that my lo feeds too regularly! lol! the 15 mins feeding seems fine to me, i also found that my lo's feeds shortened around 6 weeks but only during the night not the day time, hoping that might happen soon! so long as lo is happy healthy and gaining weight all's good x
