Advice please? Is this okay??

My left nipple is split right down the side and I cannot physically feed my little one from that side because the pain is too bad. Ive been plastering the lansinoh on, washing regularly etc but at the moment it is still too sore.

Today i have been feeding as normal on my right breast but pumping from my left and giving Vinnie the bottle (about 3oz ebm).
He hasnt had a problem with taking a bottle so far, in the first few days after my c.sec i found it really hard to feed him and the midwife advised formula top-ups which he took to like a trooper!

Im just worried that im gonna affect my supply or end up not being able to carry on bf'ing.

Also last night i expressed a 5oz bottle and he took the whole thing!!!! Is it normal for him to take so much at only 2 weeks old??
xx

as long as you keep doing something with the sore side you will keep the milk supply going, just try and get him back feeding on it as soon as you are able.
As for how much milk he took, that is more than his stomach will be able to handle really, what bottles are you using? Some bottles have such a fast flow even with the newborn teats that they can go too fast for LOs stomach to tell the brain its full so they take more than they need, can result in milk being thrown up, baby getting overly sleepy and sleeping for a long time to enable digestion and sore tummies. Can be best to offer 2oz and then wait 15 minutes or so before giving another 2oz or using a bottle which offers a slower flow. We fhave only found Breastflow bottles are able to do this and take babies around the same amount of time to drink as from the breast.

I personally would keep pumping but instead of feeding him it in a bottle just freeze it for later (you can use it for making babyfood later on too) and just nurse him on the right side only.

Have you tried letting yourself air out without the lanolin cream for a little bit? That helped me sooo much, let it dry out, it will heal up better than it being wet with the cream all the time. But then once it's dry use the cream again to keep it from cracking back open
