Dream feeding

I am struggling a bit with night feeds at the mo. Baby was doing fab but since he hit 4months he's been waking twice or sometimes three times a night. He's now 5months. Am thinking of starting a dream feed in the hope of getting a bit more sleep but don't really know how this works. Do I simply remove him from his bed when I go up to bed, and then hope that he will BF from me? He is quite picky about eating and often yells if I offer a boob at the wrong time! What if this happens? Will he wake up big time? Should I offer one or two sides? Do I burp him? And the big Q: should I change his nappy?

I dont dreamfeed but what I can say is if he usually screams when he isnt hungry then its probably not worth doing. The idea behind a dreamfeed is not to wake the baby at all but to leave baby asleep/very sleepy and rely on the reflex of babies opening thier mouths and sucking to do the job so the idea is to do as little moving/waking as possible.
I dont believe in feeding babies for the sole purpose of trying to make them sleep longer, offering food when they arent hungry may backfire at some point and for the majority of people I know who have tried dreamfeeding it makes little/no difference to when baby wakes for feeding through the night.

I've never tried it either - my thoughts are always that he's asleep and not to mess with it! I have also read that babies have their deepest sleep during the first half of the night so personally I wouldn't want to interrupt that in order to feed him.
