Silly question- lighting

Hi, after some advice before LO arrives....

I'm planning on having LO sleep in the crib or moses basket next to my side of the bed once she's here. I thought this would make feeding her during the nights much easier as I can just pick her up, feed, change etc without having to get 'up' and disturb OH and LO more than necessary. I'm sure I read that babies can feed half-asleep in the night if they don't wake themselves up properly by crying?

BUT....... what sort of light would you use? I've got a lamp on my bedside table, but I'm not sure if that would be too bright for LO and cause her to wake up more (and OH!) Would a night light plugged in to the socket be too dim to see what I'm doing? What do you girls do/did you do?

Thanks in advance!

I used to sleep with the light on, but quickly moved to leaving the landing light on and the room door open.

We use a night light in her room. At first I left the hall light on and her door open, but now she knows how to latch so the night light is plenty.

I have a great feeding lamp that I got from amazon - it has a dimmer button so you can have it whatever strength you want, you can leave it on as a nightlight if you want and then just turn it up a bit when you need to feed, turn it up more if you need to change nappy. It also has a setting that it will gradually dim the light and switch itself off. It's not cheap but is really handy for night feeds.

Excellent question! I was just about to ask the same as my lamp is kinda bright to leave on all night so I can see bubs for night time feeds!

I like the look of that babytec light! Might try that!

I used a touch/dimming lamp tucked away in a corner, left on all night... now the light on the monitor is enough, it's quite bright, but blue.. so its a bit like when it's full moon. When I move H into the nursery I'm thinking of getting one of the babytec ones like Polaris has.

when H was in our room we slept with all the lights off, and I used the bedside light for feeding. Now he is in his own room we changed the main lightswitch to a dimmer switch - so I feed him on a low light then turn it off completely when he goes to sleep. We've got a grobag egg thermometer that acts as a nightlight, but it's not very bright.
