How long did you/have you bf for and how long did you want to feed for?

When I was pg I hoped I'd get to 18 months with bf. We've just stopped now at 21 months..

This time I'd hope to do the same again and just see what happens!

What about you guys? I know some people on here wanted to feed for 6 months and then just kept going for example!

I was one of the ones who'd intended to just feed for 6 months are we're nearly at 11 months now with no sign of stopping any time soon

I hoped to bf until 2 years but after reading up on extended bf-ing, now I'm happy to let her self wean whenever she's ready.

At the beginning I just hoped I would make 6 weeks, then 6 months and then I realised Poppy had no intention of stopping and I was quite happy for her to carry on!

I did get a bit stressed about whether she would ever stop, but mainly because I am pregnant again and did not think I could manage with feeding a newborn and almost 2 year old. Fortunately, she self weaned so it was the best outcome all round.

I hope that the new baby might take a bottle of EBM more readily than Poppy ever did, just in case I'm ever poorly and need OH to step in. But I am happy to feed until the baby decides to stop again x

I first thought 'as long as I can - at least past the 6 week hurdle' thinking it would be hard to get to say 6 months.

When I found the recommendation was 6 months, then I was decided it would be at least 6 months.

When I found that if I stopped before 12 months I'd have to give formula I decided it will be at least 12 months.

I know in my heart I would carry on, but I do feel alot of pressure that it's not accepted.

I wanted to get to 6 weeks, then 3 months, then 6 months... We're still going and now I think I'd like to keep bf till LO is a year old (just morning, bedtime and overnight if he still needs it) but I'll see how it goes.

I want to do the same as my first 2, get to a year then let them self wean, I really dont want them to have formula so getting to 1 is important to me.
My first weaned at 2 my second at 14 months

When I was pregnant I thought six months but I've changed my mind now.
1. I really don't want to have to bother with formula so I definitely want to get to a year.
2. I really enjoy b/f now and don't want to stop - I know I will be really really sad when we are finishing so I will probably keep on with morning and bedtime feeds for as long as he wants them.

I always said ideally a year As long as DD is happy with that - if longer, we'll go longer...I hope it's not shorter, but I'll take her steer!
