I only wanted to do 6 months but then I got to like 4 or 5 and wanted to go on as long as I could. I went back to work at 8 months though so everything came to a natural stop.

Next time Id like to get to 2 years x

When I was pregnant I said I'd give it a try and see how we went but would have no qualms about ff if it didn't work out. Then J was born and took to bf like a star and I discovered that I LOVE it. I've turned into a bf-ing fanatic now!! I said I'd do it til he was 6 months but when he was about 4 months old I decided to keep going til he was a year. I tried to introduce formula for the afternoon feed recently but quickly went back to bf in the afternoon as I'm too lazy for bottles and all that nonsense!! Lol!!!

I have to go back to work when she will be 6 months so I will just have to see how we get on in terms of expressing and having the time to express enough but will definitely keep feeding at least mornings and evenings for as long as she wants to.

I wanted to wait til he self weaned...I achieved that but it was ten months not the 2 years ish Id hoped. I know this is very unusual so I am really hoping Theo doesnt do the same and the aim is again to leave to self wean.

I never gave myself a goal because i knew i would feel terrible if i didn't reach it (or on the other hand, feel pressure to give up if i reached it but wasn't ready to stop yet iykwim?)

We are just taking each day as it comes. We've had a tough couple of weeks with one thing and another but we seem to have come out the other side so to speak and i have a renewed enthusiasm for breastfeeding and am actually enjoying it again

I think we will just keep going for as long as we can tbh.

My goal was always "never give him a drop of formula" -- whatever that meant! LOL That eventually became "let him self wean." So, that is where it stands. We are currently at...ermm... a bit over 7.5 months. I just hope I can make the self wean goal now that I am pg again (13 weeks today). I'm coming up on that scary part of pg where milk changes/goes.

FX it stays for me and Otter can still self wean! I'll be glad to tandem nurse if he is still going at 13.5 months when the new one is here.

I wanted to make it to 6 months at the least and had the long term goal of a year. But now that I have passed the 6 month mark, I could see us self-weaning and going well past a year! One reason I really want to wait to try for our second is for Emma to get as much breastmilk as possible and be done with breastfeeding before I have to start feeding the next.

I never set a time limit of nursing, we are now at 21 and counting. To be honest Brennan shows NO signs of self weaning. It makes me worry a bit as he nurses ALL the time, or at least asks to. He is a booby maniac!
