solids and breastfeeding?

Im soooo confused!! not starting yet...but I know at first you give solids after a bf....but then after 6 months do you give solids first then bf straight after? or do you give solids at a different time of day? just seems if you do that you are constantly feeding? is it ok to give milk at same time as solids I read it affects iron absorption?

sorry ...hope I make sense??!!

A babies main diet up to the age of 12 months should be milk. Ideally a baby should get ONLY milk up to 6 months of age. Therefore I would always offer milk before "solid" food to the age of 12 months unless advised otherwise by a paediatrician. Of course some babies will naturally drop feeds during the day between 6 and 12 months inwhich case you may wish to offer milk in a cup instead of offering BF.
