What can i do to help BF baby poo!! bloody gaviscon :(

Is there anything i can give or do for Rubie to help her poo? She has reflux and docs prescribed gavison but when she has it it bungs her up.

Its such a shame she is so frustrated and trying her best to do one but nothing.
She usually goes a few times a day but its been over 24hrs now. I know they can go a few days but it does seem to be really bothering her.

Wipe her anus with every diaper change - usually the stimulation can get things moving.

Hmm, in that case, maybe try the tips for helping them release wind, such as rubbing their tummy in circles, bicycling their legs, putting their feet together and bend the legs up and move side to side, etc.? Usually these combined with stimulating the anus work for us in about 24 hrs. If it gets to be a week, you can take a rectal temp to try to get things going.

i would go back to gp my son had reflux and he was given gaviscon but when i went to paeditrician they gave me something else called ranitidine something like that! LO had constiptaion really bad and caused him to bleed they can give lactoluse for them. maybe u could give a really small bit of pure orange juice litterally tiny bit dilute it with water 1/10th orange rest water use to work woners but u should really seek advice if it has gone on for a couple of days. also gp showed me how to feel his stomach and were our ovaries are a bit furher up on the side u can usually feel the poo if its clogged so you can do really gentle circular movements around there and may help to get things moving.

We had exact same problem and was prescribed domperidone to help it shift from the stomach to the bowel quicker, it doesn't make them go more but relieves the discomfort as it's not building up in their tiny belly. We also decided to give Gaviscon to Evie at every other feed (therefore 4 times instead of 6). We were told it may not be the medication that's causing her to go longer as it does slow down at around 6wks, she still isn't as she was before but now Evies normal pattern is to go every 3/4 days with a firmer poo but no more struggling but I still wipe her to help her along just incase!

Thanks ladies!! I tried your suggestions (except orange and prune juice as I had non in and couldn't get to the shops) and this morning she had done a poo
it really must have been hard work for her as it was very firm and usually it's more ofa splat. Poor thing. x

Forgot to mention there that we only give her gaviscon afer bed time and morning feed. Last night we didn't give it to her. She slept fine so maybe the reflux is correcting it's self. She hasn't had it this morning either so will see how she goes. Fingers crossed she can come off the gaviscon. x

I used to boil a couple of prunes in some water and give her a little of that, really worked. She was a bit older, at 4 months. Gaviscon used to make her poo go all white and frothy, eww.
Hopefully your little girl will be better now
