Feeling Sad. Does this mean the end?

My son William is six and a half months old and exclusively breastfed. Saying that he has had a bottle of formula but that was when I was poorly.

Well, he now has two lower front teeth. Yesterday he decided it would be great fun to chomp on me when he was feeding and oh my goodness that hurt. And he drew blood. I bravely fed him again in the night and he did the same thing. I don't know what to do. I don't feel anywhere near ready to stop. It's our 'thing' and I love it. However I can't keep on like this. I know nipple shields are an option but last time we used those I ended up with terrible breast thrush. Is there anything I can do or is this natures way of saying it's stop time?

William is sat now waiting for his next feed and I'm delaying it for as long as possible. Poor Willy. It's not his fault. Help!

When my oldest was teething, I could tell whether my baby felt like biting or nursing by offering her a finger (careful!) or a toy before nursing - she would either suck or bite.
This is an excellent site. I hope others with my problem find it too. Thanks very much!

He's still biting. I'm at the end of my tether. I'm watching him intently but he just goes chomp out of the blue. :_(

Alice has just started doing this, but she doesn't have teeth, so it's not as bad but it's pretty sore. Is it happening towards the end of his feed? I think Alice has been having a growth spurt and is getting frustrated when the milk isn't coming as quickly as she wants it to. I'm not sure if this is of any use, but I've been giving her one boob for about 10-15 minutes (that's about the length of time she'd usually feed for) then swapping sides. If she's still hungry I'll swap back again. When she has bitten me, I've unlatched her and put her down. I really hope you get this sorted.

What do you do when he bites? With Kaya I simply took her off, put her down and ignored her briefly. It didn't take long for her to get the message
