6 month growth spurt??????/

is there a 6 month growth spurt and if so what were your experiences of it?!?!?

Sophia has had plenty of growth spurts before (the 4 month gowth spurt lasted about 5 weeks!) however they have never interrupted her sleep before. She has been sleeping through since about 9 weeks old (lucky me, Iknow!) and now for the last week she has been waking up twice a night, once at about 10pm and once at about 4.30pm, in fact it can be a bit random when she wakes up. But she is always hungry and feeds strongly for 20 minutes. I even hear her tummy rumbling!

Anyway, I would like to know your experiences of a six month growth spurt, how long did it last, did they goback to sleeping through.

Or perhaps this isn't a growth spurt at all? In which case any ideas what it is?

What is interesting is she doesn't seem to be feeding any more than normal during the day - just at night...............hmmm its all quite odd!

Any thought?

There is indeed a 6month growth spurt. General things I read say the 6month is the worst but it didn't hold a candle to the 3m/4m 6week spurt of doom (sounds like you had a similar experience!) so it didn't really phase us. I was dreading it because he was due it at Christmas but to be honest we had random phases of routine changes because of Christmas anyway so it didn't impact too much.

Thanks Kitten, the weird thing is that as bad an drawn out as the 4 month growth spurt was, she never once woke up at night! hmmmmmmmm just when you think you have them figured out they go and change on you again!!

I think we're at the tail end of Alice's growth spurt now. She was pretty much latched on or asleep for about 3 days (and nights!). We co-sleep so I'm not sure how many times a night she's feeding, but I know it is much more frequent and I had sore nipples for the first time since she was about 4 weeks old. She's a lot grumpier than usual too. I feel like I haven't put her down in days. It's like having a newborn again! It was about 5 days ago since I noticed a change, and she's starting to get back to normal. It's true that just when you think you have them figured out the goalposts shift again!

I'll have to check my ticker, she was actually born on the 22nd! I've always wondered if that thing was actually right or not... Only 3 days out though!

Yes, but like yourself and kitten the 6 month gs wasn't anything to the 4 month hell one where it made us glad to cosleep because wow could she feed for up to 4 hours at a time!!! It didn't last as long at all, maybe 5 days?
