worried about nursing with my toddler around

I am sure all moms with toddlers are nervous about this but I am really worried about how my son ( 1 year 8 months) will be when I am nursing the new baby. Basically I am worried about how to keep him in line while I am nursing and not bored. Right now he is very very high maintenance, doesnt sit and play and needs constant supervision. I can read him a book , or put toys down for him but reading a book doesnt take long , and nursing takes longer.
I don't think putting toys down will work as he wont even play with them now when I am free.
He is at daycare til 4 so during the day it wont be a problem but from 4 onwards...

Nursing the new bubs in a sling might help when your older one is about. It will be less obvious to him that you are feeding and he will feel like he has your undivided attention. I guess then you would just do what you normally do when you play with him now!

I've only just stopped bf our 21 month old in the last 2 weeks so I'm thinking the same a little too!

I wore jocelyn in a wrap sling until she was 11 months (when we moved on to a mei-tai) and would walk around town etc with her feeding in there as no one would notice - so would that be an option for you?

I'm also expressing antenatally and she's actually being very good over it - she'll come over and say bup and point to it but it's in the same way that she'll point at my nose and say nose - like she's saying that's what it is rather than I would like some please iykwim? She's now moved on to saying bup, then juice, then baby so I think she understands what it's for bless her!

Time will tell when she sees the new baby latched on though!

I plan to use a sling and the TV. DS will be 3 by ten and is generally good at following directions, so I have no doubt I can manage him even if I am sitting down nursing.

You can still interact with him when you're nursing. Try playing games like catch the balloon, pass the ball, find the teddy etc. You can also get a few toys/interesting items that only come out when the baby is nursing - pine cones, drums, special cars etc.
