green poo

Please help ladies,
In the last couple of days my LOs poo has been on occasions green and resembling mushy peas with one nappy the colour of grass, he's totally bf and has only been given a couple of bottles of expressed milk. I let him fall off before offering the other side. He latches himself on and feeds well, his weight gain has been perfectly along the 50th. He seems fine so I don't think its a stomach bug but what am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Hi

My lo's nappy was bright tomato red and I found it was due to me drinking cranberry juice (thought I had a UTI) it might be something you are eating keep a list of what you you eat and what couler your lo's poo is after.

I am sure he is fine

some say its to do with trapped wind.....I don't know. We have phases of green poo even when he seems well (so could be wind I guess). He's got an ear infection this week and has at least two green nappies a day.....

Green poo is normally associated with too much fore milk, it maybe an idea to just give him 1 breast during each feed, when he comes off put hime back on, this ensures that he gets the maximum hind milk. Also the odd green poo is nothing to worry about, if it continues then i would have a chat with health visitor

Most bfed babies have phases of green poo, yes it can be associated with too much fore milk or even not getting enough milk. If he is happy, settled and gaining weight then just put it down to a phase and change nothing. You are doing everything right and he is gaining great.

Well done you and keep it up xx

We used to get occasional green poos all the time when Thomas was younger. I didn't worry about it once it wasn't every nappy.

I think general theory is that it occurs when food goes through the system too fast, like diarreah in adults. Theakston used to get them all the time & totally randomly. Had a couple this week because he's had a cold & been overfeeding for comfort & also I imagine the nurofen has had an impact.

Thanks everyone I feel much more reassured now, he has been overfeeding (going for mammoth sessions, I put it down to a growth spurt) and has a bit of a cold so it might be that. Thanks again x
