Congratulations on your little boy.

Sounds like you are making progress on getting him interested in b/f - I would persist with trying to get him to feed directly if at all possible as it will be so much easier in the long run.

Re mixing EBM and formula - I would keep them separate and give the EBM first before giving formula if needed. If you mix them in the one bottle and LO doesn't finish the bottle then the EBM is wasted, if you know what I mean.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Tried him again at each feed today but still no luck. I'm going to have a look at the la leche league website and see if they have people in my area that could come out. At the moment the expressing is still going okay though and little monkey seems pretty happy

His poo has changed from green at the hospital (because of the formula) to yellow so I guess I'm doing something right xx

for breastmilk poos!!! Well done, hon. I think getting help from LLL is a great idea. Don't you UK ladies have LCs available to you, too?

yep its worth chasing your HV too, i had the area breast feeding co-ordinater come out too, she was very helpful, but agreed that Ruby was probably one of the few babies who just 'dont get it' but i did feel better after seeing her, she came out twice, and called me a few times after that to see how we were doing...

Yep I think so, I'm going to have a look into it in the morning I think. He's asleep now so think I'm going to get myself off to bed while I can.

I will speak to the MW when they next come on Monday I think and see who they can put me in touch with. I'm just a bit worried that if I get in touch with someone like that it'll end up with them putting a lot of pressure on us to be successful Whereas at the moment we're just doing our own thing and working out what suits us. I think it'd make me feel really bad if I got in touch with them and they were really forceful in trying to "help" xx

you are SO like me!!! thats exactly what i was worried about, but it wasnt like that.. she was very supportive, and had me try loads of things to help, but when they didnt work, and it was clear that direct BF wasnt going to work for us, she was also very helpful with exclusive expressing... which was invaluable as its really not easy, so it actually made me feel better about it all, as i knew id tried all i could, had the right help, and it wasnt just me 'doing it wrong' or something, and i was able to make the decision to carry on pumping for as long as i could, and feel positive about it all!

I think I will try and get in touch with someone then. If they're too forceful I guess I can just not see them again xx
