Molly put on 13oz in a week once and my old HV was mightily impressed... really is luck of the draw with them.

Must admit this HV is MUCH nicer than the one we had for the last one. Least this one only made the one eye rolling comment and was otherwise super lovely and she complimented his pretty nappies. Think some HV are taught that all BF babies loose weight after birth and then put it on but mine just dont like to do that...they are boys and they like their food too much!

My HV also said that not many babies gain weight in the first weeks or so... they usually lose 10% in the first few days and then get back up to birthweight by the end of the first week. My baby never read that memo either....

Yeah i don't think the HV at baby clinic believes me when i say i am still breastfeeding either

she always says "and is he still breastfed?" and when i say yes, she says "exclusively?!..." with a raised eyebrow

As a side note though, Toby lost quite a bit of weight at first, he was down from 6lb 5oz at birth to 5lb 10oz on discharge from the hospital (5 days old) although by 10 days old he was back up to 6lb 7oz and has been piling it on ever since
