Blah is right -- not always, but it can.

I think the best stats I found were about 1/3 of women find they dry up, 1/3 of women find a decrease, and 1/3 find no real change. The 14-16 week mark of pg is supposed to be the "make or break" point.

I struggle a bit with my supply in early pg more because of how pg affects what I can eat and drink, than because of the hormones. I have gone off meat, especially chicken and I get lactose intolerant when I am pg. So I struggle to get enough protein and fluids in me. The intake you have to have to manage to support yourself, your bean and your nursing baby is CRAZY! So, if you don't tend to be able to eat well in first tri, it might be a battle.

I have recently found a solution (for now) with making my own protein shakes out of rice milk, fruit, ice, and LOADS of protein powder. Also eating oatmeal. That has got me back up again, but I have a feeling it will be a constant battle between now and the birth to keep Otter on breastfeeding.

Don't let it stop you -- just keep it in mind and make an informed decision.

I had my first period when LO was 14 weeks old and have had them regular as clockwork ever since - I felt cheated too! I didn't notice an impact on my supply at all
