LO suddenly won't take expressed milk

Although he defo prefers the breast, our LO has generally been quite good at taking expressed milk from a bottle. That's up until the past three days. Now, even if he is apparently ravenous, he is happy to have the bottle teat in his mouth but he grimaces and almost gags with disgust the moment the expressed milk hits his mouth. Nothing has changed. All I can think is that the steamer that we use to sterilise his bottles is making the milk taste weird because the heating element is limescaly - but surely that would be a gradual thing rather than an overnight thing?

Anybody else had this happen to them? Any solutions?

That sounds really strange. My LO has started refusing a bottle recently but it is the bottle itself that he doesn't like rather than the EBM. Is your LO happy to suck on the bottle teat?

Do you heat the milk for him or is it cold? Is it freshly expressed that day or frozen (can change the taste I believe).

What way does he react when he tastes the milk, will he go on trying to drink or will he refuse to take any more?

If you think it's the sterilizer, you could maybe try sterilizing the bottle by boiling it in a saucepan of water and see if he will take it then?

Have you cleaned the steriliser with citric acid? It cleans all the limescale off and should be done every 2-4 weeks mine recommends.

Yeah, have cleaned the steriliser. Now today, LO took the milk from the bottle again. Go figure! Honestly, last night and the night before he would have rather gone without than drank the stuff in the bottle. We sterilise everything in the same steriliser, but he was happy enough with the teat in his mouth - it was just the milk itself he wouldn't drink. And the milk he was given was fresh on both occasions. Guess LO was just having "a moment". Ho hum.

Oh that's good news that he's taking it again though. Just one of those unexplainable things I guess!
