Question

BF and BMI

I am getting quite concerned about my weight!

I didn't check it so far, but I can see in the mirror that I've lost a lot of weight!

as known you should not diet whilst breastfeeding I am wondering now if there is a certain BMI were to stop BF at?

does anybody know?

I feel like my storage is empty and my body does not know from what to produce the milk anymore!

I try to eat as much as possible (three meals a day and fruits in between), but obviously it is to less!

is there anything specific, I can eat to keep my weight up?

thx guys

I would try eating lots of carbs etc. Healthy high calories foods, not processed foods with lots of saturated fats

People in 3rd world countries still produce milk to breastfeed, so I wouldn't worry too much about it

Hi Mickey

Some people find that BFing makes them lose a lot of weight, I've read on different occasions how it supposedly burns 200 or 500 or 1000 calories a day!
For me I don't tend to lose weight at all whilst bfing but my sister had the same as yourself - she was eating 5 small and healthy meals a day with some fruit inbetween and she lost a lot of weight and became 7lbs lighter than her normal pre pregnancy weight

I'm just worried that I'm getting underweight as I ever was more at the edge of having ideal weight and being underweight before pregnancy!

my metabolism seems to work quite quickly and those extra calories burnt by breastfeeding are adding up!

will check my weight on the weekend and I will get in touch with a breastfeeding centre as I am really concerned

obviously it is different from person to person!

but a friend of me also shrunk!

I just googled for high calorie foods and so far I am eating all of it: pasta, meat, poultry, eggs, cereals...

firstly, I will try to eat more (just need to find the time for it!!!) and if this does not help, I will go and see my GP!

I called the women from la leche league and she gave me this advice

I weigh less now than I did prepregnancy, but am still too heavy. Shame Alex has stopped breastfeeding, could have done with losing a few more pounds lol

possibly the dream of everybody: to eat more

but honestly, I just can't eat mountains, but I am also not eating kids portions!

well, I just try to eat sth whenever I have time in between the baby and leave the housework, what I always try to do in between, for OH to do.

good excuse I have

Sounds like you've got really healthy eating habits as well, I'm sure I'd be a few stone lighter if I didn't eat all the chocolate, cakes and biscuits! I just have no will power and when I'm tired I crave sweet things. I do a fair amount of exercise though so I hope I'm destined to end up pre-pregnancy weight and not this 2 stone overweight lardy that I am !!

I can dig into chocolates as well, especially at the moment as they provide energy

a whole package of after eight in a day isn't a problem for me at all
