now ive stopped, my boobs are killing!

hi all, i stopped breastfeeding two days ago and now i am full of milk and its v uncomfortable, should i just wait for it too subside or express a little to release some pressure?

I'd take a hot shower to take the edge off, pumping might send the wrong signal to your body? Just a guess really.

You poor thing! Full boobs can be very painful, and even lead to complications such as blocked ducts and mastitis.

You can pump a bit, just for comfort, maybe just taking the top bit of milk off when necessary. A supportive bra can help. Arm swings (and overarm) might make you a bit more comfortable, too.

Sage is a herb that is reputed to reduce milk; and sudafed is a OTC medication which reduces milk supply. You might want painkillers anyway, such as paracetamol and Ibuprofen. Chilled cabbage leaves, as recommended for day-3-engorgement might help.

But despite all this, some mums still feel they have milk for a long time, one mum even told me that the milk "never" went away, and her youngest was at school.....
