| Feed, Wind, Sleep?? We've got wind issues
At first Hazel would mostly feed and make a lot of nappy noise at the same time or straight afterwards... she seems to find it easier to pass wind in that direction So putting her down after feeding (at night) was no problem.
The last few days she's been unhappy with wind after feeding. At first i did the jig about n patting, then yesterday did staying still for a while followed by gentle rocking and rubbing... and this worked very well.
The problem is, either way, its then difficult to put her down to sleep - or shes hungry again
I then start to wonder am I overfeeding her when the issue is wind and not hunger.
I'm hoping the next few days will bring another change and we can all be happy little bears again
All advice gratefully recieved! x | | | | Status: Offline

| Ive found at night I feed for 10-15 minutes then take Noah off the boob and wind him, after numerous massive burps, he feed is over his frantic feeding and settles back on the boob for 5 minutes of sleepy gentle feeding which is less windy. | | | | Status: Offline

| You can't really over breast feed a new born. Sometimes, especially in the early days, you become a human pacifier. Its kinda rough on a new mom, but you aren't alone.
It doesn't always last, if it makes you feel any better. | | | | Status: Offline

All advice gratefully recieved! x | It's really difficult when you've only just finished one feed and they are ready for the next one. This happens to us quite a lot, Thomas suffers quite a bit from wind at times and it takes ages to wind him and I find I have to keep him reasonably upright for a good while or he just starts grunting and groaning and wriggling his legs around and can't get settled. This means that by the time he is settled properly he is often nearly waking up to eat again. It is exhausting. However, I would say that this has improved slightly over the last week as he is starting to space out the feeds a little bit more. I think just keep at it, it's hard work though.
I did ask the public health nurse about the wind and she basically said that it wasn't a problem and that if it got really bad I could try Infacol but that he would probably grow out of it - I haven't used the Infacol yet as I am a bit funny about medications even though I believe it is not absorbed at all so it should be fine. | | | | Status: Offline

| Can you try a sling? It keeps baby in an upright position, which helps wind pass through, and the rocking gentle motion can help them drop off to sleep, too, close to mummy. Some mums put bub in a sling and go for a walk to encourage naps.

| Thanks Melanie
I'm not very well practiced with the sling yet, so I guess I've avoided fussing her with it when shes uncomfy with wind... the problems have been at night mostly, mainly because of the reduced time between winding and next feed, in which for me to sleep
I was hoping to avoid her sleeping anywhere but her moses basket... but sleeping on my chest has worked
We had to go out in the middle of the night last night to buy some infacol, she was really upset
Good news is she has gone down to sleep since. | | | | Status: Offline
