How regularly does your baby need to feed?

Just interested really? Charlie seems to be feeding every 1.5 hours (from the start of one feed to the other) which sometimes only leaves 1/2 an hour between feeds...is this normal?

Thanks x

Toby seems to go through little phases of wanting to feed every hour, and definitely in the beginning 1-2 hourly was about average, but i'd say on average now he goes 2-3 hours before waking for a feed. His feed lengths are variable though, anything from 15 minutes at the shortest to 45 minutes.

Its tough when he wants to feed every hour because it feels like there is no time for anything else and i do get pretty tired out, but then he'll go back to being 2-3 hourly again and that gives me some relief.

It sounds like you're doing good and he's probably just nursing so much to make sure your body produces enough milk. I'd say keep up the good work and hopefully you'll soon find he can go a little longer in between feeds

Thomas fed every hour and a half to two hours until he was three weeks, it is exhausting!

it's now more like every three hours, except in the evenings when he still wants to feed hourly.

Totally normal, Noah fed little and often at first, he now goes longer but during growth spurts we only have 1.5-2 hours from start of one feed to the start of next. So by the time he's fed and winded it's nearly time to start again.

Feels like LO is feeding constantly, at 5 weeks! I used to make a written note of the times when he was first with us, think I'll start again, just to reassure myself that he's not always on the boob! It's 4:33pm, and after having woken up at 9am, he's just fallen to sleep 4 mins ago for the first time today, I'd get him calmed and he'd suddenly want more, then winding, then a nappy change, then I'd get him calmed down and he'd suddenly want more, then winding, you get the drift! ;o) Exhausting!

Yeah Sid was the same at the beginning, mostly fed every 2 hours but sometimes every hour... still does sometimes but its mostly 3 or 4 hours at the mo, which i find much less exhausting!

Isaac normally goes 3 hours, but as soon as a growth spurt hits it's every 1 1/2 - 2 hours. It's perfectly normal, although I found by feeding, changing feeding again I could lengthen the time between normal non-growth spurt feeds.

so you change your LO mid feed? how does that lengthen the time? is it cos they sleep longer?
