What's your GP doing suggesting you stop BFing???? Could there be a misunderstanding here? Breastfeeding is positively the best thing you could be doing for your poor baby. Here's the official line on the subject: http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Gast...n-Children.htm which absolutely recommends continuing to breastfeed!

There's lots of reasons for carrying on BFing. Your milk contains generic antibodies (IgA) which help your baby's immune system. Also your milk will contain specific antibodies tailored to the virus that the baby has been exposed to - regardless of how you feel, your body will supply the baby with these special antibodies. Your milk is probably one of the first drinks your baby will tolerate, and he may want lots of it as he gets better and regains his strength - although you may notice the impact on his nappies which might return to newborn style for a bit if he's on just BM for a bit. As well as these specific immunities and tailored nutrition, your milk will also be comforting and provide baby with a safe place to be as he recuperates.

Oh dear! Let us know how you get on.

Melanie
