Yeah, def a growth spurt. Adi, too.
Don't give formula and try not to give a bottle of ebm, because this is training your breasts on how much they'll need to make now, and if you supplement it'll take longer for your supply to catch up.

I was just about to post something similar! Toby has been almost constantly feeding since lunch time. There have been nappy changes in that time too, and winding after each feed but otherwise it's been pretty non-stop

At first i just thought "growth spurt" but then on a couple of occasions it's like he's been getting grumpy with my boob while he's feeding, clawing at it and grumbling and waving his head around while my nipple is still in his mouth (ouch) so i started to doubt myself and wonder if he was actually getting anything (my boobs haven't felt full since this morning)

From what you ladies are saying though it sounds like this is normal and we just need to ride it out?

He is feeding right now (typing one handed!) but not getting frustrated, he looks contented/sleepy and is just doing occasional sucks now. I want to trust my body but i just worry about him not getting enough.

We're having plenty of wet and dirty nappies but no idea about weight this week as the midwives discharged us last week and HV hasn't been in touch yet.

Ride it out!!

My LO would punch my bbs when they weren't flowing fast enough after he had been feeding for a long time. I just let him keep at it. The things we do for our babies!

It's horrible seeing them getting so frustrated, Thomas totally attacks my boobs sometimes when the flow is too slow for him because he's already drunk me dry! The first time OH witnessed it he was quite shocked, he commented 'he's like an animal!' I think during a growth spurt, that temporarily you aren't making enough milk for them, so this is their polite little way of letting your body know that it needs to up the supply. It does ease off a bit although it sometimes feels like we are on a permanent growth spurt here!

We all have days like these sometimes! Growth spurts carry on throughout childhood, too, as any 13 year old can tell you.... Here's a good guide: http://www.llli.org/FAQ/spurt.html
