How much weight in a day (average)

Hiya,

Was just intrigued really how much weight your lo's put on per day... Sid is now averaging at an oz a day..

Erm.. Emily was 7lb 10oz at birth, but went down to 7lb 3oz at 5 days old and is now 10lb 8oz at 7 weeks tomorrow, so I think we're just around the 1oz a day mark too.. (if my brain is working anyway!)

We just had our first weigh today

6oz gain in 6 days! I think it's more common for LO to lose initially though.

It's important when working out weight gain, to calculate from the lowest point, not from birth weight! This can make a big difference. After 10 days / two weeks (when birth weight is normally regained) average weight gain is 6oz/week but shouldn't be lower than 4oz/week for 3-4 months.

My LO is growing like mad!! she was 9lb 9oz at birth, went down to 8lb 13oz, was 9lb 7oz at 2 weeks old and at 3 weeks + 2 days was up to 10lb 6oz!! so in the last week she gained about 2oz-ish a day! Now I'm worried she's growing too fast!!

Elissa is a week older than your Sid and put on an entire 1lb last week!
