Tips for night out??

Going out with my girlies on Sat, expressed enough feeds for little man hopefully...going to express a few more just to be on the safe side!

Okay so Q is, how the hell am I going to survive for 4-6 hours while i'm out without bursting!! I leak everywhere even if Oscar misses his feed by an hour?!

Gonna take my expresser to my friends and empty both boobs just before we go out & when I get in (going to be gutted that I have to throw milk away!!)...but what can I do inbetween? Mum said I might not be too bad because being near baby or hearing him cry triggers off the leaking?

Plan to take loads of pads with me etc...any other tips or stories from your first time away from baby?

x

Hmm, lots of pads I think! Or depending on what you are wearing maybe you could try those breasts shells that collect the milk and just keep emptying them!? (they're not very discreet though )

TBH I didn't go out till Poppy was quite a bit older, but one night my OH and I went for a meal and took Poppy with us (she slept a lot back then). I was leant forward most of the night talking to my OH, and then realised the whole of my left side was soaked where I had pressed against my boob and it had leaked all over. Thank goodness I was wearing black!!

Have a great night, sorry to not be much help!

Boots sell brest shells but I don't think you could wear them under clothes without them being totally obvious.

I've only been on one night out since I had Harvey and my boobs were killing me when I got home. I was driving though so didn't have to dump the milk. The only thing I can think of, which isn't ideal, would be to hand express in the loos if you're getting really sore, just enough to take the pressure off.

um can u fit a clean top in your bag?

i went out 2 weeks after my first was born, had expressed for the next day so thought i'd be ok, there was a full days worth of milk there, went out and ended up with solid boobs then they started spraying so embaressed, nicked oh's coat. and i had padded up, tissues from toilet etc so i went home in a sulk lol

i found drinking seems to refill my boobs pretty fast, the sheilds seem like a good idea!

Boots/Mothercare sell the shields but like Kiddo says, they might be too bulky for you.
Have a great night, let us know how you get on x

Hello all,

Quick post as little man has just started grizzling!

I didn't end up going out as I was ill !!
My mum still had little man over night for me though as I was so weak, I expressed at 10pm then slept right through till 10am (bliss!) . My boobs were HUGE this morning and felt like they were when milk first comes in...I expressed as soon as I got up and managed to get a whopping 8oz from both boobs, so another load of milk stocked up for when we re arrange to go out!

I have heard that alcohol can make your milk come in faster, so think it would probably be 10 times worse if I had of gone out...glad I didn't now, I so needed that 12 hours sleep!!!

Thanks for all your tips anyway, will bear them in mind for next time!
x
