Don't want to stop! (long sorry!)

Violets now 10 months old, she has a BF when we wake at 7-8am, at times throughout the day, for naps and before bed, normally only lasting 1-5 minutes..(I taught her the sign for milk in baby sign language so shes asking all the time at the moment!) and when she has bad nights with teething I sleep in with her (have a double bed in her room) so she feeds all night..
I introduced a FF for her evening feed (she'd drink 3-7oz) when she was about 7-8 months as I had deadlines for uni and my OH was looking after her in the evenings,
I really want to drop this FF and feed her myself again, does anyone think this would be possible? I do seem to be producing milk all the time.. but my BB's are pretty much back to their small old selves
I am struggling with giving up to be honest and worry that my supply is dwindling because I have given her formula every night.. to be honest it would be useful to still give her formula some nights as I'm going to have to work some nights a week, but I worry that shes not getting enough milk if I don't give her that FF as she doesn't seem to drink enough from my BB's most of the other times..
I dunno.. was just reading that motivational thread and suddenly realised our BF days are numbered don't want it to end..

Even though your breasts don't feel like they did, they are still hard at work. Your method of production changes at around the 6 month mark, you start making it more on demand, then making and storing. Hence the lack of engorgement. You should be able to drop the FF and not have any problems just be sure you are getting enough to eat and drink. I was still nursing my son full time at that age with no solids and he was just fine. You don't have to stop till you and your daughter are ready!

darling your BF days are certainly not numbered! if you cut that bottle out cold turkey your boobies WILL make enough milk in its place, i promise. Giving her the occasional bottle of formula will not affect your milk supply now, as she is older and breastfeedin has been established. It is only one bottle, you will be able to cut it out. how is she with the bottle? if she is anything like my son was when i had this exact same dilemma, you might have to just cut it cold turkey. if he is still happy to feed from the breast at this time of day, try feeding her first before the bottle, all the time reducing the formula.

I must stress though, if you just cut it out its not going to hurt her. That would be the easiest way of doing it and your milk supply will soon catch up! Good luck hun http://www.kellymom.com has loads of fab information on breastfeeding as does http://llli.org and feel free to PM me any time with any questions, i am a trained la leche league peer counsellor and am hoping to train to be a LLL leader soon x
